Kenyon-Wanamingo High School Principal Patrick Walsh is a finalist for the superintendent position with the Foley School District.
He, along with four other finalists, will be interviewed next week. Walsh will meet with the school board, community members and staff. He will also tour the district.
Walsh, 45, has been principal for K-W for nine years.
He said he hasn't actively looked for many jobs, but he said he occasionally applies for jobs that fit his criteria of location, size and scope.
Both Walsh and his wife, Nancy, are from central Minnesota, where the Foley district is located. Walsh said most of their family still resides in the area and it would be nice to be close to them.
Career advancement is also a motivator.
"It's pretty select," Walsh said of the jobs for which he applies. "It's one of those things in my future. ... We love Kenyon, but it's just something you got to take a look at."
He was also a finalist this year for the superintendent position for the Royalton School District, which is also in central Minnesota.
The current superintendent of Foley is leaving the district June 30. A few of the finalists will be shed from the running Thursday. A replacement is expected to be signed by March 15.
